Aquae Sulis Performance Swimming Club - Mission & Objectives
Mission
ASPSC exists;
- to develop Elite swimmers in Bath, Somerset and Wiltshire though the “Swimming Development Pathway” of the (currently) 12 Network Clubs and the ASPSC Squads, with the aim of competition at Regional, National and International level
- develop the Network of Clubs to maximise the development of swimming in Bath, Somerset and Wiltshire
Through the Network of Clubs and Leisure Centre providers, swimming opportunities are also provided from “Learn-to-Swim”, right through to Performance and beyond. Many of the Clubs run “Masters” Squads with swimmers actively involved in swimming training into their 60's. The aim is also to offer opportunities to swimmers who leave the Performance Club (ASPSC) to still continue swimming and in many cases train as Coaches. The opportunities available are “Lifelong”
Objectives
To achieve this ASPSC will;
- Develop the Elite, Potential & Transition Squads. The Network Clubs will have access to the ASPSC Squads, for their talented/potentially talented swimmers, at all Squad levels, providing the swimmer meets the Squad entry criteria, is recommended by the Home Club Coach and, following a trial, is accepted by the ASPSC Head Coach
- Work to develop and improve the quality of Coaching at Home Clubs by;
- The provision of Network Club Coaches workshops and training events
- Visiting all the Network Clubs to review their programme of coaching and provide feedback and support
- Provide workshops and training events for Network Club officials and Committee Members
- Seek and maintain mutually beneficial links with other clubs and organisations in order to ensure that ASPSC, its swimmers its Network Clubs, it’s members and volunteers achieve at their highest level in the sport of swimming
- Run the club’s finances on a non-profit basis and maintain a sustainable financial position aiming at reserves of 50% of annual operating costs
- Operate within the Governance laid down by the ASPSC Constitution and amended by any Club rules/policies
- Treat everyone equally within the context of its activity. This shall be, for example, regardless of sex, ethnic origin, religion, disability or political persuasion
- Retain SWIM 21 Accreditation
- Ensure that the Club’s membership and Network Clubs are kept informed regarding information that is critical to them, the Club and its swimmers.
- Work closely with the ASA engaging their support and drawing on the expertise of the Regional Club Development Managers (to be appointed in 2013)
